Energy Supply and Demand Report (FY 2011: Preliminary Report)
METI, Japan: The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy hereby announces a preliminary report on Japan’s energy supply and demand situation for FY 2011, based on the results of a variety of energy-related statistics. Final energy consumption decreased by 2.9% year on year (a 4.7% increase from FY 1990) due to the decrease in production, the effect of energy saving, and other factors. Energy-oriented carbon dioxide emissions increased by 4.4% year on year (a 10.7% increase from FY 1990) due to a sequential shutdown of nuclear power plants, the increase in fossil fuel consumption, and other factors.
