Germany and the Philippines expand cooperation on climate protection and renewable energies
BMU, Germany: The Federal Environment Ministry has increased its assistance for climate policy in the Philippines by another 3 million euros to over 30 million euro. With the adoption of climate legislation and the establishment of a National Climate Change Commission chaired by the President, the Philippines have established major cornerstones for an effective national climate policy. Renewable energies play a key role in this context. Based on the Philippines’ Renewable Energy Act of 2008, the latest project aims to improve framework conditions for renewable energy. The goal is to ensure a low-carbon energy supply while at the same time enhancing and improve the country’s energy security. (Source: http://www.bmu.de/english/current_press_releases/pm/49180.php)
