Strengthening education on climate change adaptation in schools

Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has organized an online conference to carry out communication and education on climate change and natural disaster prevention in schools 2014 in two points of live broadcasting: Hanoi National University and Vinh University.
In 2014 and 2015, MOET will implement 3 approved programs; (1) Train teachers to integrate education on natural disaster prevention and climate change response into schools; (2) Development of E-learning on natural disaster prevention and climate change response in education grades; (3) Completion of information system for management of natural disaster risks in education sector, focusing on collecting and processing information for planning of natural disaster response and recovery.

The South-West Steering committee and leaders of a number of provinces and cities in the Mekong delta has had a meeting with a team of GIZ and SIEMENS experts on project “Propose solutions to strengthen resistant capacity of urban areas in Mekong delta”.
The project’s objectives includes assessment of resistant capacity to climate change, implementation of optimal solutions and of resistant capacity enhancing route to climate change. The project shall be implemented in about 6-8 months. The project’s budget shall be mobilized from GIZ’s potential donors as WB, ADB, and JICA… The project is expected to launch from the end 2014 and middle 2015.
Strengthen Negotiation capacity for ASEAN countries on Climate change

This is the main content of the conference organized by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), UK Embassy and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 3 days from 19 to 21 August. The conference has supported ASEAN negotiators in approaching progress of policies on climate change under the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC); as well as obtaining more understanding on important issues need to be negotiated…; before a new climate change convention has been developed in 2015.
To equip Vietnam’s lecturers with knowledge about climate change

From August 4 to August 8, U.S Agency for International Development (USAID), the Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests Program and United States Forest Service (USFS) supported to held a training program on climate change in Petaling Jaya city, Selangor (Malaysia).
The training course is for 100 university lecturers from 14 universities and institutes in the Asia-Pacific region. 18 Vietnamese lecturers from the Vietnam Forestry University, Da Lat University, Vinh University and the Asian Institute of Technology and LEAF USAID officials and Vietnam Forest and Deltas Program attended the training.
