Approving plan “ Development of urban areas in Vietnam respond to the climate change in the period from 2013 to 2020”

The prime minister has just approved the plan “ Development of urban areas in Vietnam respond to the climate change in the period 2013 to 2020 ”. The plan is applied from now to 2020, version after 2020. In particular, phase I (from 2013 to 2015) includes 6 cities such as: HCM, Hanoi, Can Tho, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Ca mau city. Phase II (from 2016 to 2020) implements for 35 urban areas in which 24 cities come from 15 provinces in the Northern Coast, Central Coast and Mekong Delta; other 11 cities from 10 provinces in the Northern mountains and Central Highlands.

Japan were willing to support Vietnam in conducting land information

In the afternoon of January 14th, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment had a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (MEITI) on cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and Japan in the field of land management. Accordingly, the main target of Vietnam by 2020 is to conduct a land information system. Japan committed to support Vietnam to carry out this important mission.

56 international projects and programs on natural resources and environment implemented

According to a report on the implementation of international cooperation programs and projects on natural resources and environment, at present the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is implementing 56 programs and projects with a total budget of US$ 455.5 million, of which US$ 371 million is from international support.

Moreover, there are  3 program which are chaired by the Ministry implementing with other ministries, branches and localities with a total budget of US$ 849.6 million. Climate change is the most attracted field with nearly $ 1 billion aid.
