International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia 2013 (IGEM 2013)
10 – 13 October 2013

The IGEM series has gained recognition as the region’s largest green technology and eco products exhibition which has spearheaded and created momentum in shaping and promoting Malaysia as the green technology hub. Building on the overwhelming responses with stellar results in its previous editions, IGEM2013 will accelerate the motions to drive changes at full speed and adopt green technology a mainstay towards growing the green economy, while addressing environmental issues.

Aptly themed “Advancing Green Growth And Global Entrepreneurship”, IGEM2013 continues to take the green lead in the region by gathering an outstanding ensemble of like-minded industry players and professionals from various sectors, public and private, big and small, local and foreign, new as well as established, to explore and seize the many opportunities from the exciting and emerging green market in the country and the region towards sustainable growth and development for the future.

Based on the desire to commercialize green technology, eco products and services for green growth, the objectives of IGEM2013 are:

• To provide specific platform for the industry stakeholders to showcase the latest innovative and creative development of Green Technology and Eco Products for sustainable consumption and production;
• To generate commercial opportunities for industry players in Green Technology and Eco Products to improve eco-efficiency for economic growth;
• To promote green purchasing or procurement and greening the supply chain in addressing environmental issues, including the reduction of CO2 emission intensity;
• To facilitate the establishment of green standards, certification and legislation for sustainable consumption and production;
• To encourage partnerships and technology transfer in Green Technology, eco-design and eco-materials for achieving international competitiveness and green growth;
• To accelerate the development of eco-prenuership and green economy;
• To help develop the human capacities and capabilities to sustain the green job growth; and
• To promote and enhance Malaysia as a regional green economic hub for Green Technology, Eco Products and Services.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak launched the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2013) on the second day of the said event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili and his deputy Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, spent more than 30minutes touring the exhibition. Also present were second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah and Ministry of Finance Secretary-General Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.

The four-day IGEM 2013, which began yesterday, is participated by 469 exhibitors from 23 countries including the European Union, Germany, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan and Singapore. The fourth edition of the IGEM is expected to be attended by more than 60,000 patrons with potential sales of up to RM1.2 billion.

Themed, “Advancing Green Growth and Global Entrepreneurship”, the objective is focused on eight sectors including development, transportation, information communication technology, water and waste management, and energy.

Among the companies participating in the IGEM 2013 are Panasonic Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Philips Malaysia Sdn Bhd, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, Land Rover, Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Investment and Development Authority and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation.
