Japan-France Collaboration on Long-term Low Carbon Strategies
The French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy (MEDDE), renamed the Ministry of Environment, Energy and the Sea (MEEM) in 2016, and the Japanese Ministry of the Environment (MOEJ) signed an MoU regarding bilateral cooperation for low-carbon and environmentally-friendly society development between France and Japan on 10 December 2015 during COP21 in Paris, France.
Based on this MoU, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), in collaboratation with the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), launched joint research on exchange of information on scenarios for low-carbon and resilient society with ADEME, the Center International de Recherche sur l’ environment et le developpement (CIRED) and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI).
Experts from contributing organisations are conducting this collaborative research by exchanging sectoral data and analysing model methodologies. The project includes the production of a research paper aiming to make policy recommendations on good practices for successful stakeholder engagement.
IGES developed a brochure which gives an overview of these activities. The brochure is available in English, Japanese and French.
