25 Bright Ideas from the IEA’s 25 Energy Efficiency Policy Recommendations
IEA: The unofficial 25 Bright Ideas mirror the 25 Energy Efficiency Policy Recommendations that the IEA and international experts developed in 2008 and updated in 2011. The recommendations address policies in seven sectors that can help member countries achieve energy efficiency benefits across their economies. The 25 Bright Ideas follow the general organisation of the original 25, including recommendations for finance, buildings, appliances, lighting, transport, industry and utilities – but on an individual level. If adopted globally, the 25 Energy Efficiency Policy Recommendations would save about 17% of annual worldwide energy consumption and prevent the emission of as much as 7.6 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide a year by 2030, or about 1.5 times current US annual CO2 emissions. The 25 Bright Ideas won’t save that much, but every little bit helps your wallet, energy security and keeping global temperatures down.
