Six coastal areas selected for offshore wind turbines

Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building, Denmark: An agreement on the construction of offshore wind farms in six coastal areas has been reached by a majority in Parliament, bringing Denmark within reach of the Government’s goal of 500 MW of offshore production capacity. The six areas selected are Bornholm, Smålandsfarvandet, Sejerø Bay, Sæby, Vesterhav Syd og Vesterhav Nord. According to the terms of the agreement, 450 MW of the energy produced will be supplied by wind farms built in the designated areas. The remaining 50 MW will be generated by developmental wind turbines for research purposes.
